Congressman Cohen Recalls Colleague Louis Slaughter

Says Southern Belle ably represented Empire State
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) joined his colleagues in noting the passing of longtime New York Congresswoman Louise Slaughter, and made the following remarks:
"I am sad to hear of the death of my friend and colleague, New York Congresswoman Louise Slaughter. In her lifetime of service, she was always at the top of her game and I was always astonished to watch her, even at age 88, never miss a beat. She knew the issues backwards and forwards, including the arcane details of House rules. A native of Kentucky, she was a knowledgeable and gracious Southern Belle but always a strong and passionate advocate of her Empire State.
"I am happy to say I could call her a friend, and I want to express my condolences to her family, friends and staffers as they look upon her life well lived. She will be missed."
