Congressman Cohen Remembers Tim McCarver

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), who followed the career of St. Louis Cardinals catcher and longtime baseball broadcast analyst since he played for Christian Brothers High School in Memphis in the late 1950s, released the following statement after learning today of his passing:

“Tim McCarver was not only an outstanding baseball player and broadcaster, but he was also just a nice guy. He never put on airs. For those of my generation, we remember him as a Memphis hero and a standout at Christian Brothers before he broke into the big leagues and led the Cardinals to pennants and three World Series. He led a good life and will be missed.”
