June 13, 2024

Says former president’s wrongdoing is indefensible

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9), a senior member of the Judiciary Committee, condemned the rationale for a hearing on the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office that successfully prosecuted Donald Trump resulting in 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to cover up a relationship with a porn star and interfere with the 2016 election.

In his questions to witnesses, Congressman Cohen saidin part:

“This Committee has engaged in many off-the-wall, pointless, politically driven hearings this Congress…The basic format is trying to do everything we can to defend one of the most lawless people in this nation’s history, Donald Trump…This (hearing) is an attack on the rule of law and on democracy, and it’s very, very unfortunate.”

Congressman Cohen also elicited testimony that Trump received a fair trial.
