Condemns weekend get-together of Klansmen in Dickson County
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) said today that a weekend gathering of white nationalists at Montgomery Bell State Park, and a speech by former Ku Klux Klan Grand Wizard David Duke, will send the wrong, hateful message from the Volunteer State. He made the following statement:
"Our President may find white nationalists ‘very fine people,' but most people I know and respect do not. It sickens me that Tennessee will again be the venue for a despicable gathering of racists ‘celebrating' a heritage of hate and discrimination. It is my hope that law enforcement is prepared and will contain the violence often aroused at such events."
