Congressman Cohen to Speak at Dedication of Russell B. Sugarmon Post Office
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen will speak at the dedication of the Russell B. Sugarmon Post Office on Friday after successfully passing legislation last year to honor the late judge and civic leader. A plaque will be unveiled at a 10 a.m. ceremony at the Crosstown Post Office, located at 1325 Autumn Avenue.
Congressman Cohen made the following statement:
“I was pleased Congress honored Judge Sugarmon last year and had hoped he could be with us for Friday’s ceremony to acknowledge our appreciation for his service to Memphis and our country.”
Also speaking at Friday’s event will be Judge Sugarmon’s widow, Gina, and son, Judge Tarik B. Sugarmon, as well as postal officials.
The plaque to be unveiled Friday reads: “This Building is Named in Honor of Judge Russell B. Sugarmon by an Act of Congress, December 6, 2018.”
