Congressman Cohen Unconvinced FBI Agent Strzok Caused Any Bias In Clinton Email Investigation

June 27, 2018

Agrees with Department of Justice Inspector General’s finding of no bias

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) attended the meeting of FBI Special Agent Peter Strzok with House Judiciary Committee Members on Wednesday and released the following statement:

"Last week we heard from the Department of Justice's Inspector General, who, after extensive investigation, told us his office found no evidence that any kind of political bias affected the decision by prosecutors not to pursue charges against Secretary Clinton. I remain convinced that is the case. The Majority's continued, partisan fixation with this already resolved issue is a massive waste of time, which is all the more frustrating when the Judiciary Committee should be investigating Russian interference with the U.S. election and potential constitutional violations by President Trump."

Earlier this month, the Department of Justice's Inspector General stated: "We found no evidence that the conclusions by the prosecutors were affected by bias or other improper considerations; rather, we determined that they were based on the prosecutors' assessment of the facts, the law, and past Department practice."
