Congressman Cohen Urges Congressional Colleagues to Support Aid to Ukraine and Israel
In floor speech, says they are in “existential fights”
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9), the House Ranking Member of the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe, went to the House floor tonight to urge his colleagues to support aid to Ukraine as Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky returned to Washington to lobby lawmakers for the survival of his country. He also urged Speaker Mike Johnson to bring aid to Israel to a floor vote without conditions.
In his remarks, Congressman Cohen said in part:
“What is clear is we have a duty as the leader of democracy in the world to support our friends in the fight for democracy in Ukraine, where they are defending democracy and keeping us from having to go in…Israel should be supported unconditionally and so should Ukraine – two valiant countries whose existence has been threatened. These are existential fights.”
