February 5, 2020

In a letter to the President, questions why minorities haven’t been nominated

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a senior member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee which has oversight of the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) today wrote to President Trump to criticize the lack of diversity in his nominations to the TVA's board of directors and to urge him to nominate minority and more women candidates to make it representative of the region it serves.

"This lack of diversity is shameful and is not representative of the region TVA is congressionally mandated to serve, which is made up of ten million people in parts of seven southeastern states," the letter says in part. "In order to best serve the Tennessee Valley, I strongly believe that the TVA Board of Directors should be representative of its customers."
