Congressman Cohen Votes for Another Short-Term Budget Resolution

Hopeful that Republican crisis management style of governing will eventually return to normal
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today voted once again for a continuing budget resolution before the looming March 1 deadline for a partial federal government shutdown so that negotiators can finalize full-year spending bills through September 30.
The vote on passage was 320 to 99.
After the vote, Congressman Cohen made the following statement:
“This is the fourth short-term budget extension necessitated by a Republican House Majority incapable of keeping the lights on without Democratic votes. In fact, more Democrats support keeping the federal government open than Republicans despite all knowing the catastrophe that continued dissention threatens. I am hopeful that, after the planned series of appropriations votes is over, we return to normalcy.”
