MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today warned his constituents and all Americans to be aware that scam artists are trying to take advantage of those newly eligible for Small Business Administration (SBA) loans and direct economic impact payments.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

“These hard times bring out the best and, sadly, the worst in people. Fraudsters are newly aware of opportunities created by massive spending by the federal government to shore up a crippled economy. I urge you to be aware that you may receive unsolicited calls from those trying to cash in on a desperate situation. Please do not provide private information, like Social Security numbers, credit card numbers, or bank routing numbers to unfamiliar entities.”
