Congressmen Cohen Announces $19.4 Million in Community Health Center Grants

Funding from the American Rescue Plan Act

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that three Memphis community health centers will receive grants totaling $19,415,250 from the American Rescue Plan Act that Congress passed and President Biden recently signed into law. Christ Community Health Services will receive $13,137,500, Memphis Health Center will receive $5,159,875, and Tri-State Community Health Center will receive $1,117,875.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

"I am proud to have voted for the American Rescue Plan that is providing grants to these centers that are s supporting our most underserved neighbors. These grants will make significant and tangible improvements in health outcomes. This a serious investment in our community health centers and it is money that will be well spent. This is a very big deal."

The American Rescue Plan directs the Department of Health and Human Services to invest more than $6 billion into Community Health Centers nationwide to expand COVID-19 vaccinations, testing, and treatment for vulnerable populations; deliver preventive and primary health care services to people at higher risk for COVID-19; and expand health centers' operational capacity during the pandemic and beyond, including modifying and improving physical infrastructure and adding mobile units.
