Congressman Cohen’s Memorial Day Statement

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) released the following statement today in recognition of Memorial Day on Monday:

"On Memorial Day, the traditional beginning of the summer season, we pay tribute to the brave men and women who gave their lives defending our nation, and all those we have lost. Through the years, I have walked the rows of tombstones in Arlington National Cemetery; the Memphis National Cemetery, where Union soldier victims of the Sultana disaster rest; and the West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, remembering the sacrifices. I ask you to consider them all, and their solemn commitment to our nation, this weekend. Now that things are opening up for those who are vaccinated, I hope you can spend time with immunized family and friends this holiday weekend, and I appreciate your joining me in taking a moment to keep all those we've lost in our thoughts and prayers."
