Funding from National Institutes of Health for Coronavirus, Cancer research

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that St. Jude Children's Research Hospital will receive a grant of $3,686,681 from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases for research into SARS-CoV-2 (coronavirus) transmission and immunity. The Congressman also announced the University of Memphis will receive a grant of $415,740 from the National Cancer Institute for cancer detection and diagnosis research.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

"It is great to see St. Jude researchers included in the vanguard of efforts to understand and reduce the impact of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, and I wish them every success with this substantial grant. I'm also pleased to see that the ongoing work of U of M cancer researchers is being recognized and rewarded. Both of these grants strengthen us as a community."
