Press Advisory: Congressman Cohen to Highlight $1.9 Million in Crime Fighting Funding for Memphis Police Department

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) will hold a press conference on Tuesday, March 26, to highlight the $1,926,600 in community project funding he secured this year through the appropriations process for the Memphis Police Department. Mayor Paul Young and Police Chief Cerelyn “C.J.” Davis will also discuss the crime-fighting initiatives.

Additional Background on the Appropriations:
- Memphis Police Department Sentinel Surveillance Cameras Project -- $963,000.
The funding would be used for additional upgraded crime surveillance equipment. The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because the upgraded technology will enhance the police department’s ability to combat crime, including auto theft, in an effective manner.
- Memphis Police Department Officer Equipment Improvement Project – $963,000.
The funding would be used for equipment to increase the safety of Memphis police officers.
