Cohen Adds Amendment to Defense Authorization Act Before Voting to Support the Measure
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN-9) successfully added two amendments to the FY11 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) before voting to support the measure. NDAA makes record investments in our country’s military, authorizing a $726 billion budget to further strengthen national security and support troops and their families.
“We must support our troops and their families,” said Congressman Cohen. “We also have to do everything in our power to strengthen counterterrorism efforts, missile defense, nonproliferation and readiness. This measure does it all.”
The amendment Congressman Cohen added to NDAA would ensure taxpayer money is not being used to subsidize highly polluting technologies like tar sands and coal to liquid fuels.
