July 7, 2015

[WASHINGTON, DC] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) announced a $1,230,000 federal grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to Le Bonheur Community Health and Well-Being in Memphis. The grant will help fund Le Bonheur’s Be Proud! Be Responsible! Memphis! program, a collaboration between community centers, schools and churches which aims to reduce and prevent teen pregnancy.

“Le Bonheur provides Memphis and Shelby County with top quality health care,” said Congressman Cohen. “These federal funds will help improve the lives of young Memphians, save money in the long-term, and create jobs in the Ninth District.”

Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital is a leader in pediatric clinical care and research and is a premier teaching hospital for future pediatricians, pediatric surgical specialists and clinicians. Le Bonheur’s partnerships with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital have helped build a strong reputation for both teaching and discovery in Memphis and Shelby County.
