[MEMPHIS, TN] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) announced today the Memphis Area Transit Authority (MATA) will receive $2.2 million in federal funds to help refurbish and enhance the Main Street Trolley Line. Today’s funding comes through the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT).
“These new federal funds will help improve livability in downtown Memphis, increase tourism, drive economic development and create good-paying jobs right here in our city,” said Congressman Cohen.
The funds awarded today will support improvements in conjunction with the Memphis Main2Main Project, which Congressman Cohen helped secure a nearly $15 million TIGER grant for last year.
