Cohen Announces $260K for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN-9) today announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital a federal grant worth $262,500 for research to develop treatments for heart and vascular diseases. The new federal funding will be distributed by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI).
“St. Jude continues to make contributions large and small to the growing body of scientific and medical knowledge,” said Congressman Cohen. “These new federal funds will give the researchers and doctors at St. Jude the funding they need to develop life-saving treatments for cardiovascular diseases. The vital scientific research being undertaken at St. Jude will continue to improve our health and quality of life.”
As part of the Department of Health and Human Services, NHLBI’s mission is to provide “global leadership for a research, training, and education program to promote the prevention and treatment of heart, lung, and blood diseases and enhance the health of all individuals so that they can live longer and more fulfilling lives.”
