Cohen Announces $364K for Research at UTHSC
MEMPHIS, TN – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded the University of Tennessee Health Science Center $364,965 for arthritis, musculoskeletal and skin diseases research. The funds will be distributed by the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases.
“UTHSC is known around the country for its top of the line research facilities,” said Congressman Cohen. “These new federal funds will give researchers and doctors at UTHSC the tools they need to help people with arthritis, musculoskeletal, and skin diseases in Tennessee and across the country.”
The mission of the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases is to support research into the causes, treatment, and prevention of arthritis and musculoskeletal and skin diseases; the training of basic and clinical scientists to carry out this research; and the dissemination of information on research progress in these diseases.
