Cohen Announces Marzie Thomas as New District Director
MEMPHIS, TN – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) recently announced that Marzie Thomas will serve as his new District Director for the 9th District. She previously served as Deputy District Director since 2009.
“I’m happy to announce that Marzie Thomas will be my new District Director,” said Congressman Cohen. “Marzie is smart, caring, dedicated, and well-known and respected in the community for her tireless efforts on behalf of 9th District residents over the years. Marzie has deep roots in the Memphis community that will help me and Team Cohen better serve constituents more efficiently in the upcoming years.”
“The Congressman and I have worked together for a number of years to help 9th District residents with all their concerns,” said Thomas. “The Congressman has done a great job representing Memphis and I have been honored to be a part of the team that makes him so successful. As District Director, I want to stress the importance of our views on constituent service, which is instrumental to effective public service. Marzie Thomas was educated at Booker T. Washington High School and LeMoyne-Owen College. She worked at The Tri-State Defender for 16 years and in 2003 was named publisher and editor. She served as a board member of the Goodwill Homes Community Services, Inc. of Memphis and with the National Newspaper Publishers Association. Marzie Thomas attends East Trigg Avenue Baptist Church where she is a soloist in the choir.
Congressman Cohen also recently promoted other member of his Memphis staff. Willie “Hank” Henry and Beanie Self have been promoted to Deputy District Directors, Linda Archer has been promoted to Casework Manager and Jeremy Jordan has been promoted to Constituent Services Representative.
