Cohen Announces More Than $1 Million in Funding to Help End Homelessness in Memphis
[MEMPHIS, TN] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that $1,012,245 in federal funds has been awarded to 4 local non-profit organizations to help end homelessness in the Ninth District. This funding comes through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Continuum of Care program, which is designed to promote communitywide commitment to the goal of ending homelessness.
“This funding will help local communities and organizations work to reduce homelessness in Memphis,” said Congressman Cohen.
HUD’s Continuum of Care program provides funding to help non-profits, State, and local governments quickly rehouse homeless individuals and their families while minimizing trauma and dislocation. The program also aims to promote self-sufficiency among individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
Details of award recipients and amounts follow:
- $193,224 to Agape Child & Family Services, Inc.
- $73,706 to Community Alliance for the Homeless
- $477,985 to Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association
- $267,330 in 2 grants to North Memphis Community Development Corporation
