Cohen Announces More Than $1.3 Million for the University of Memphis

[MEMPHIS, TN] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced 5 federal grants totaling $1,356,084 in funding for several projects at the University of Memphis. This funding comes through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the National Science Foundation (NSF), and the National Park Service (NPS).
“I am pleased that the federal government has made these important investments in the University of Memphis and their talented scholars,” said Congressman Cohen.
Today’s announcement includes funding for the following University of Memphis projects:
- $730,000 in NSF funding for the “Phylogeny and diversification in the uniquely diverse beetle family Curculionidae (true weevils)” project
- $350,000 in NSF funding for the “FIA-NP: Collaborative Research: Named Data Networking Next Phase (NDN-NP)” project
- $202,204 in HHS funding for the “Improving brief alcohol interventions with a behavioral economic supplement” project
- $40,000 in NPS funding for the “Visualization of Chert Artifacts Using Reflectance Spectroscopy as a Preservation Provenance Technology” project
- $33,880 in NSF funding for the “RAPID: GPS Observations of Co- and Post-seismic Deformation in the Argentine Puna from the 1 Apr 2014, Mw 8.2, Pisagua, Chile, Earthquake Sequence” project
