Cohen Announces More Than $21 Million for Upgrades at Memphis International Airport
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN-9) today announced the U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded Memphis International Airport $21,671,780 for terminal building improvements, runway rehabilitation and taxiway rehabilitation.
“These new federal funds will improve passenger services, infrastructure and safety at Memphis International Airport,” said Congressman Cohen. “Memphis International Airport is the largest cargo airport in the world and is the economic engine of the city. It is critical that Memphis International continue to invest in renovating and expanding its facilities and services so it remains a world class airport.”
The terminal building improvements are for the construction of a covered pedestrian walkway from the new parking garage to the terminal building. The runway and taxiway rehabilitation will extend the life of the pavement used by airplanes, increasing safety.
