Cohen Announces More Than $2.4 Million for UTHSC
[MEMPHIS, TN] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) announced today that the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis was awarded a total of $2,408,361 in federal grant funding for four different research projects.
“These significant federal investments will help keep Memphis and the UT Health Science Center at the forefront of the medical research community,” said Congressman Cohen.
The following grants were awarded to UTHSC under today’s announcement:
- $1,597,704 from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases for the “Defining Islet Heterogeneity Using Single Islet Transcriptomics” project.
- $387,657 from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism for the “Genetics of Chronic Mild Stress and Alcohol Consumption” project.
- $225,000 from the National Institute of Mental Health for the “Neural Mechanisms of Inflexible Learning Caused by BDNF Deficiency” project.
- $198,000 from the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases for the “Mechanism of action of 20-hydroxyvitamin D3 in dermal fibroblasts” project.
