Cohen Announces More Than $330,000 in Federal Funding for St. Jude
[WASHINGTON, DC] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in downtown Memphis was awarded $332,500 in federal funding for medical research. The funding comes through the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services’ (HHS) National Institute of General Medical Sciences. The purpose of this grant is to determine the efficacy of a novel compound, discovered at St. Jude, to reverse cancer drug resistance.
“This funding will be used to continue important research at St. Jude, one of the world’s finest health care institutions,” said Congressman Cohen.
Founded in 1962, St. Jude is one of the world’s leading children’s cancer research hospitals and is focused on finding cures for and saving children from cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
