Cohen Announces More Than $680K for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN-9) today announced that St. Jude’s Children Hospital has been awarded two federal research grants worth more than $680,000 from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences and the National Cancer Institute.
“St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is one of the most unique research institutions in the country, providing free and low cost health care to thousands of children every year,” said Congressman Cohen. “These grants will allow the hospital to continue to be a leader in researching cures for children with debilitating illnesses.”
The National Institute of General Medical Sciences grant awarded the Pharmacology, Physiology, and Biological Chemistry Research Department more than $357,000 for studying Ubiquitin-like Protein Transfer Cascades. The National Cancer Institute grant will provide $324,045 for continued research in developing selective inhibitors to improve chemotherapy treatments for children.
