Cohen Announces More Than $788K for The Works, Inc.

MEMPHIS, TN -- Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded The Works, Inc. of Memphis $788,673 in new federal funds for community services and community economic development.

The Works is a necessary force in revitalizing South Memphis,” said Congressman Cohen. “Such a generous grant gives The Works the resources necessary to serve South Memphis to the best of its ability. I am pleased with the success of The Works as they continue to invest in South Memphis. I thank the Department of Health and Human Services for their continued support of the restoration and revitalization of South Memphis.”

Founded in 1998 by St. Andrew AME Church, The Works, Inc. serves the housing and community development needs of South Memphis. The Works, Inc. works to rebuild and restore South Memphis by increasing the availability of affordable housing. The Works, Inc. specifically focuses on the development, ownership, and operation of housing for low and moderate-income families and persons, and elderly and/or handicapped low and moderate-income families and persons, under private and/or governmental housing programs.
