Cohen Announces Nearly $3 Million for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

[WASHINGTON, DC] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced 4 federal grants totaling $2,936,706 in funding for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. This funding comes through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and will be used for a variety of programs and research projects.

“This funding will be used to continue important work at St. Jude, one of the world’s finest health care institutions,” said Congressman Cohen.

Today’s announcement includes funding for the following St. Jude projects:

  • $2,056,188 in funding from HHS’ National Cancer Institute (NCI) to study normal and neoplastic growth in the brain.
  • $369,205 in funding from HHS’ National Institute of Aging to study RNA splicing dysfunction in Alzheimer's disease.
  • $338,200 in funding from HHS’ National Institute of General Medical Sciences to study BCL2 family protein interactions in cellular survival states.
  • $173,133 in funding from HHS’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases to study training in the design and development of infectious disease therapeutics.
