July 3, 2013

MEMPHIS, TN -- Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital was awarded a $437,500 grant for a vision research project. The funding was awarded by the National Eye Institute, which is part of the National Institutes of Health.

“This grant will help the talented doctors and scientists at St. Jude better understand one of our most basic human senses.” said Congressman Cohen.

Today’s funding will be used for a project researching the epigenetic reprogramming of retinal neurons. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital was founded in 1962, and it has since worked to find cures for the catastrophic diseases of childhood.
