Cohen Announces Nearly $7 Million for Upgrades at Memphis International Airport
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN) today announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded $6,832,954 to Memphis International Airport for overall upgrades that include improving terminal buildings and taxiways as well as security enhancements.
“Memphis International Airport is the economic hub of the Mid-South, serving millions of passengers per year,” said Congressman Cohen. “These funds will help to cement Memphis’ status as North America’s leading aerotropolis and largest cargo airport.”
The grant will be distributed by the Federal Aviation Administration and will be used to improve terminal buildings, expand restroom facilities, strengthen taxiways and make security enhancements. The funds will also be used to purchase a fire and rescue vehicle and snow removal equipment for next winter.
