Cohen Commemorates Veterans Day

November 9, 2012

MEMPHIS, TN – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today issued the following statement commemorating Veterans Day, which is observed on November 11:

“Every November we come together to remember those who serve and have served our country,” said Congressman Cohen. “These brave soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, Coast Guardsmen and reservists are the reason why we enjoy the many freedoms we have. Please join me in honoring the memory of the Americans who have served in World War I, World War II, the Korean Conflict, the Vietnam War, Iraq and Afghanistan. One of the best ways to support our veterans is by creating jobs for them and that is why I am proud to support President Obama’s proposal to put our veterans to work protecting and rebuilding America, and provide them with the tools necessary to start small businesses. We must remember our soldiers after they have completed their service and must honor the commitments made to them when they enlisted. Veterans cannot be thanked enough in words for their service and that is why I will continue to work to ensure veterans and their families are compensated more fairly for their service.”
