Cohen Commemorates Veterans Day

November 11, 2014

[MEMPHIS, TN] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) released the following statement to commemorate Veterans Day:

“Every November, we set aside a special day to honor the brave men and women who have served our country in uniform. On Veterans Day, we gather to remember the sacrifice and courage of the soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, Coast Guardsmen and reservists who have fought to safeguard the many freedoms that Americans hold dear. As we honor our nation’s heroes, we must also redouble our efforts to ensure that we keep our promises to them. We should do all we can to help them find good-paying jobs, to provide them with an education and affordable housing, and to ensure that they receive the timely, high-quality health care they deserve. That is the best way to thank our veterans and honor their sacrifices, and I will continue to work on their behalf. I was proud to host VA Secretary McDonald during his visit to Memphis and I support his aggressive reforms based on proven private sector methods.”
