Cohen Honored With U of M Distinguished Alumnus Award
[MEMPHIS, TN] – This evening, Congressman Steve Cohen received the 2013 Distinguished Alumnus Award from the University of Memphis Alumni Association as part of the “Enshrinement of 1912” celebrations taking place throughout U of M’s homecoming weekend.
“The University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law helped prepare me for a long and successful career in public service, and I will always be grateful for the education I received there,” said Congressman Cohen. “Being named the 2013 Distinguished Alumnus is a great honor, and I thank the U of M Alumni Association for this award. All of my life, I have supported and loved the University which gave me a profession that is an incredibly rewarding way to earn a living, and my love and support for the University will continue even after I am gone.”
After tonight’s award presentation, the Congressman will be recognized in an on-court ceremony at this evening’s Memphis vs. Christian Brothers men’s basketball game, participate in tomorrow’s Homecoming Parade, and be recognized during tomorrow’s Memphis vs. UT-Martin football halftime show.
