Cohen Hosts 2014 District Issues Meeting for Ninth District Constituents
[MEMPHIS, TN] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today hosted his 2014 District Issues Meeting for constituents, welcoming more than 50 Memphians to his office to discuss issues affecting the city and the Mid-South. This meeting, like his regular local events and telephone town hall meetings, offered the citizens of the Ninth District an opportunity for direct dialogue with the Congressman about the issues that matter most to them.
“Hearing what my constituents have to say about the issues is very important to me,” said Congressman Cohen. “I discussed a number of issues with citizens of the 9th District today, including what I hope Congress can accomplish in the coming year, how to strengthen the middle class by raising the minimum wage and extending emergency unemployment insurance, and how we can take advantage of the Affordable Care Act’s many benefits. Hearing what Memphians think about these important issues, as well as others like supporting our veterans, helping minority farmers recover from unfair discrimination, and growing jobs, helps me better represent them in Congress.”
The District Issues Meeting was held at Congressman Cohen’s Memphis office, located in the Clifford Davis/Odell Horton Federal Building at 167 North Main Street (Suite 369).
