Cohen: Le Bonheur to Receive $500K for AIDS Funding

August 9, 2012

MEMPHIS, TN – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced Le Bonheur Community Health and Well-Being will receive $500,000 in new federal funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for the Ryan White Title IV Women, Infants, Children, Youth and Affected Family Members AIDS Healthcare project.

“Le Bonheur provides Memphis and Shelby County with top quality health care,” said Congressman Cohen. “These new federal funds will help the hospital deliver critical services to patients living with HIV and AIDS. Unfortunately, the HIV epidemic continues to afflict the 9th District. I applaud HHS for recognizing the necessity for increased funding to combat this deadly disease in Memphis.”

Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital is a leader in pediatric clinical care and research and is a premier teaching hospital for future pediatricians, pediatric surgical specialists and clinicians. Le Bonheur’s partnerships with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital have helped build a strong reputation for both teaching and discovery in Memphis and Shelby County.
