Cohen Reaches Out to Public to Discuss Pressing Issues Facing Tennessee, America
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN-9) hosted a telephone town hall meeting this evening to discuss the economy and how best to create jobs, education, Social Security, the census and other Tennessee and national concerns.
“Town halls give us the opportunity to discuss the issues and concerns that are at the forefront of people’s minds,” said Congressman Cohen, who has already hosted several telephone town hall meetings this year. “Whether it’s the economy and creating jobs, Social Security, health care or making a higher education more affordable for working families, people have opinions and ideas that help us as we move forward with legislation in Congress. Tonight’s town hall meeting was a success. I look forward to hosting more of them to ensure that as many constituents as possible are heard.”
Tonight’s telephone town hall meeting began at 6:40 p.m. CST and lasted approximately one hour. More than 4,400 constituents participated in the call and asked questions about a wide variety of issues including homeownership, tax credits, transportation and other critical issues.
Since being elected to the House of Representatives in 2006, Congressman Cohen has hosted dozens of town hall meetings in his Congressional district and via telephone from Washington. Congressman Cohen’s next scheduled telephone town hall meeting is set for Tuesday, April 27.
