Cohen Receives Perfect Score on UFCW Scorecard

February 29, 2012

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN-9) has received a perfect score on the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Congressional Scorecard for the first session of the 112th Congress. Congressman Cohen was the only member of the Tennessee Congressional delegation to receive a perfect score.

“It is an honor to be recognized by the UFCW for my work on behalf of American workers and their families,” said Congressman Cohen. “Whether it’s fighting for the extension of unemployment insurance, the payroll tax cut or health benefits, it is important that American workers and their families receive the support they need to succeed and thrive in our economy. I have long fought for working families and will continue to do so in Congress.”

The United Food and Commercial Workers International Union is a labor union representing approximately 1.3 million workers in the United States and Canada in many industries, including agriculture, health care, meatpacking, poultry and food processing, manufacturing, textile, G4S Security, chemical trades, and retail food. Until July 2005, UFCW was affiliated with the AFL-CIO, where it was the second largest union by membership. Along with two other members of the Change to Win Coalition, the UFCW formally disaffiliated with the AFL-CIO on July 29, 2005.
