Cohen Statement on the End of the Iraq War

MEMPHIS, TN – Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN-9), a member of the Helsinki Commission, issued the following statement on President Obama’s announcement on the end of the war in Iraq:

“One of the first caucuses I joined upon being elected to Congress was the Out of Iraq Caucus, so I welcome the end of the war in Iraq,” said Congressman Cohen. “The Iraq war has cost nearly 4,500 American lives and almost $1 trillion. Now that the mission in Iraq is winding down, we must concentrate on helping our troops and veterans make the transition back to civilian life and providing them with educational and economic opportunities. Our men and women in uniform have made enormous sacrifices and we are all in their debt.”
