Cohen Statement on Passing of State Rep. Ulysses Jones

November 9, 2010

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today issued the following statement on the passing of state Representative Ulysses Jones:

“It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of State Representative Ulysses Jones. Ulysses and I worked together for over two decades in the Tennessee General Assembly and for 12 years as the chairs of the House and Senate State and Local Government Committees, respectively.

Ulysses and I worked closely together on both the implementation of the Tennessee Education Lottery as well as its oversight and we also worked together to fight the “Tiny Towns” annexation law.

Ulysses Jones was a dedicated public servant who greatly cared about his constituents and his city. He was my friend and he will be dearly missed.”
