Cohen Statement on TGA Subcommittee Vote to Revive TennCare Expansion

[WASHINGTON, DC] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), founding member of the Congressional State Medicaid Expansion Caucus, issued the following statement regarding a 3-2 vote in a Tennessee State Senate subcommittee to recommend a resolution to give Governor Bill Haslam the authority to expand TennCare, the state’s Medicaid system:

“After Insure Tennessee was declared dead earlier this year, I am pleased about this effort to revive Medicaid expansion in Tennessee. Expanding TennCare will result in a $1 billion federal funding infusion into our state each year boosting our economy, helping keep hospitals open and, most importantly, keeping Tennesseans alive and improving their health.”
