Cohen Talks to More Than 6,000 Ninth District Constituents During Tonight’s Telephone Town Hall
[WASHINGTON, DC] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) hosted a telephone town hall this evening to answer his constituents’ questions about the issues facing the Ninth District and the nation. On the telephone town hall, the Congressman discussed a variety of issues including the fast-approaching March 31st Affordable Care Act open enrollment deadline, how Memphians can ensure they aren’t leaving money on the table when filing their tax returns this year, his “Building a Healthier Memphis” series of wellness events, and his efforts to promote civil rights and protect our Constitutional right to vote.
“Town hall meetings like tonight’s give Memphians and all citizens of the Ninth District another way to speak directly with me and share what’s really on their minds,” said Congressman Cohen. “I appreciated having this opportunity to hear the Ninth District’s perspective on how best to protect the Constitutional right to vote, how hardworking Memphians can get every penny they are owed in tax refunds this year, and what middle-class families can do to get high-quality, affordable health insurance coverage before the March 31stHealthCare.gov open enrollment deadline. Regardless of the issue, the opinions and ideas of Ninth District constituents help us move forward with legislation in Congress.”
The Telephone Town Hall meeting began at 6:25PM CT and lasted approximately one hour. More than 6,000 Ninth District constituents participated in the call and asked questions about the Affordable Care Act. Since being elected to the House of Representatives in 2006, Congressman Cohen has hosted dozens of town hall meetings in his Congressional district and via telephone from Washington, D.C.
