Cohen: Telephone Town Hall on Jobs, Economy, Debt Limit Informative, Helpful

July 26, 2011

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN-9) today hosted a telephone Town Hall on job growth, improving the economy, the debt limit and other important issues including Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security for approximately 60 minutes between 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. CT. More than 1,500 constituents from the 9th Congressional District participated in the call.

Hearing what my constituents have to say about the issues is very important to me,” said Congressman Cohen. “The telephone Town Hall was geared toward jobs, the economy and the debt limit but I discussed a number of concerns with 9th District residents today, including social safety net programs like Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. Hearing what Memphians think about the issues helps me better represent them in Congress.

As with traditional Town Halls and District Office Issues Meetings, the telephone Town Hall offered an opportunity for direct dialogue between the Congressman and 9th District constituents.
