Cohen Votes Against Debt Ceiling Increase
July 31, 2011
WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Cohen today released the following statement on the debt ceiling increase deal proposed by House Republicans:
“I’ve recently voted twice to increase the debt ceiling, but this debt ceiling deal is unacceptable because the second series of cuts are not defined,” said Congressman Cohen. “This bill is like a Trojan horse with Scylla and Charybdis inside. The American people should not be taken on a ride which would likely result in the poorest among us being worse off. There is no shared sacrifice or revenue coming from millionaires or those who are receiving tax shelters.”
