Cohen Votes to Extend Unemployment Benefits
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN) today voted to support extending unemployment insurance for 9th Congressional District residents.
“People who have lost their jobs through no fault of their own need their unemployment benefits,” said Congressman Cohen. “It is vital that we extend unemployment insurance to the millions of Americans struggling to put food on the table and keep the lights on in their homes during these tough economic times. This extension will bring some much needed peace of mind and financial relief to countless working families and seniors in Memphis and across the country.”
Congressman Cohen voted for an extension of unemployment insurance this past May but those benefits are set to expire tomorrow -- Friday. The bill (H.R. 5618) would extend the life of this vital program to November 30.
