Congressman Cohen and Congressman Shuster Release Joint Statement on the Humanitarian Release of Arif Yunus

[WASHINGTON, D.C.] – The Congressional Azerbaijan Caucus Co-chairs, Congressman Bill Shuster (PA-09) and Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), released the following statement on the humanitarian release of Arif Yunus:

“We commend the decision by the Baku Court of Appeals to transfer human rights activist Arif Yunus from prison to house arrest on humanitarian grounds. This is a positive development in our efforts to strengthen U.S.-Azerbaijan ties through the promotion of human rights. We look forward to continued conversations with Azerbaijani officials on humanitarian prison releases and their commitments to furthering democratic reforms and human rights protections for all citizens.”
