Congressman Cohen Announces $184,271 Grant for the University of Tennessee Health Science Center

The National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, a division of HHS, granted the new award to Dr. Kristin Hamre, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology at the UT-HSC College of Medicine. This grant will fund biological research centered on the interaction between genetics and the nervous system being directed by Dr. Hamre.

“I am very grateful that HHS is funding the important work of scientists like Dr. Hamre at UT,” said Congressman Cohen. “Scientists and researchers in the 9th District at the UT Health Science Center and St. Jude are paving the way for the development treatments to a wide range of health problems. When the government invests in scientific research, we always reap the benefits down the road.”
