Congressman Cohen Announces $420,000 Grant for St. Jude

National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, a division of HHS, granted the new award to Dr. Michael P. McDonald, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology at the UT-HSC College of Medicine. This grant will fund clinical research being directed by Dr. McDonald aimed at improving cognitive and motor deficits in patients with Parkinson’s Disease.

“I’m grateful to the HHS for awarding these monies to Dr. McDonald for his research into Parkinson’s disease,” said Congressman Cohen. “Scientists and researchers in the 9th District at the UT Health Science Center and St. Jude are paving the way for the development treatments to a wide range of health problems. Investments in health care pay dividends in the long-term, and I wish Dr. McDonald success in his endeavors.”
