Congressman Cohen Announces $520,000 Grant for University of Tennessee Health Science Center
“I am very pleased to announce this new award for the University of Tennessee Health Science Center,” said Congressman Cohen. “The BCDD is one of the most comprehensive facilities in the nation and is dedicated to improving the quality of life for people of all ages in the region with developmental disabilities. With autism rates rising across the country, we need quality facilities like the BCDD now more than ever. The caring staff at the BCDD has received commendations from numerous national organizations over the years for their record of excellence in serving the 9th District and the nation at large.”
The BCDD is one of more than 60 University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities in the United States established by the federal government to develop interdisciplinary training, service, and applied research related to developmental disabilities. The BCDD also focuses on prevention of developmental disabilities through programs for mothers and children who have or are at risk of having special care needs.
“I commend HHS for their recognition of the BCDD and their invaluable service to our community,” added Congressman Cohen. “These funds will help hundreds of people that are struggling with developmental disabilities in the 9th District.
