Congressman Cohen Announces $5.5 Million Grant for Memphis International Airport

The grant provides funding for:

• Phase two of the cargo apron construction
• Reimbursement for construction of a new airplane taxiway
• An update of the Airport Master Plan Study

“The transportation industry is vital to the economy of the 9th Congressional District and the Memphis International Airport is one of the main reasons we’ve attracted businesses and investment through the years,” said Congressman Cohen. “It’s gratifying that that the FAA has designated these funds for the 9th District. As a member of the Aviation Subcommittee of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I understand the necessity of maintaining our critical airport infrastructure, and these funds will help ensure that Memphis International remains one of the best, most efficient airports in the country. With continued investment from the Federal Government, I have no doubt that Memphis will remain ‘America’s Distribution Center’ for generations to come.”
