Congressman Cohen to Host Two "Virtual" Town Halls
Constituents will receive a phone call with a recorded message from Congressman Cohen which will prompt them to join the Telephone Town Hall. Once they have accepted the invitation, they will have the opportunity to ask questions to Congressman Cohen on any number of issues affecting the 9th District.
“This is a fantastic new way to interact with the citizens of the 9th District,” said Congressman Cohen. “Not everyone has the time to visit Washington, DC, or come to our traditional Town Halls, so this technology allows people to engage me from the convenience of their own home.”
Congressman Cohen said that he hopes to connect with as many as 80,000 people in the 9th District through the Telephone Town Halls over the next eight days. If you don’t receive a phone call, you can still opt into the conference call by dialing 1-800-447-5149, and entering the password 13655.
“I am excited about the opportunity to talk to constituents from all over the district through this innovative forum,” added Congressman Cohen. “The people of the 9th District have a lot of concerns including the price of gas and food, the credit crunch and the mortgage crises, as well as the ongoing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. I look forward to discussing these and other issues with everyone who participates in these telephone Town Halls.”
Congressman Cohen will be hosting two traditional Town Halls in the coming weeks, as well. The first Town Hall Meeting is from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Monday, May 12, at the Memphis Botanic Garden’s Hardin Hall. The Memphis Botanic Gardens is located at 750 Cherry Road, off Park Avenue, just east of the intersection of Park and Goodlett.
The second Town Hall Meeting is from 10:00 AM to Noon on Saturday, May 17, at the Orange Mound Community Center located at 2590 Park Avenue.
